I would not have bought this if it had a monthly fee.

Throw in Anet's commitment to the community (GG showing up in LA several times/ week)

How about new free content, like SF and the ToPK?

Holiday events!

I like leaving my ranger to play the drums all night in the wooden cage in LA.
I also like how easy it is to get the weapons I want. But I also enjoy the challenge of finding that awesome rare skin. I also love my pet. I love the veriety of things I can do with my ranger. I also love the grafics and scenery. I gotta go explore more of the jungle, I missed out on tons of stuff there.

I like most of the points listed above. Besides, one thing I really like is that GW has no server boundaries, through international district, you can play with anyone in the world, that's a huge advantage over most of other MMORPGs.

1. i like that there is no monthly fee.
2. i like that it incorporates elements similar to NWN and D2, but improved, and without the annoying elements from those games.
3. i like that the world is so large, and that there is so much to explore and do. if you're not being rushed, it can actually take a fair amount of time to play through. Yay for long PVE campaigns!
4. i like that i can ignore the living dogshit out of all the other players if i choose to.

Most of the things that people have mentioned, but I'm going to go a bit deeper.

Guild Wars is Hardcore. Yes. It's a very accessable and fun game to play casually. But at the same time, do you guys have any idea how hardcore of a game it is? There's very few games where over the course of a match/stage/battle that seconds..in fact fractions of seconds matter.

What other real time video game out there has actual interrupts for skills? The combination of different skills flying around AND the positioning game..kiting, where to run. Keeping together.

It all comes together in GvG. The goal is to overextend the other team. Find where they're weak and attack that point.

And in PvE, most of the rest of the modern online RPGs have you pulling one monster at a time. Take him down. Pull another monster. Guild Wars is something unique, in that you take on groups usually.

And with Factions, it's really looking like nothing's the same really. A bunch of different types of stages, with different ways to form teams and play. This of course, irritates people who just want a bunch of farming zones, but for the rest of us its bliss. Yeah. It might suck to get in a bad random group. But you need to work together and overcome.

That's the point.

I like how I can keep experimenting with different class/profession combinations, and the irritating parts of other similar games aren't in here. It keeps me playing, and playing, and playing....

+++++ All the way, its better to say not good than bad its better to think of a 79 as 1 point below a 80 rather than a C, better to say ur not good at a sport rather than horrible, postives work better!

would you mind sharing a link to official Anet/NCsoft confidential business figures that show that even 1% of players have more than a single account let alone most of them?

linkies with proof please (pretty please with ....... ......all over?)

Couple things I like about GW:

1) The community -- Ok, there are always a few jerks and immature idiots running around, but out of all the online games I've played, I've made the most friends by far on GW, and in a short amount of time. I thought the experience would be better than Lineage II (*shudders in horror at the memory*), but the fact I've gotten over 20 people on my Friends list in 2 weeks of play really blows me away. And those aren't just guildmates. You can find quite a few helpful, friendly people in Tyria, that's for sure.

2) No monthy fee -- No-brainer here, specially if you're a poor college student like me

i look at it like this. me and my wife both play so thats two accounts. so every six months ill be spending 100 dollars. 200 dollars a year. 200/12=16$ per month. thats half what id be paying for 2 accounts on wow or lineage or whatever.

plus i could skip a chapter if i wanted (not likely but i could) or wait a little bit if i didnt have the cash.

remember, you're not paying to keep playing guild wars, you get an entire new game....WoW'ers have to pay that much to keep their account...that's another huge difference!

and what i like...everything you guys said before..

Today we had some jerk in the party, who decided to spoil the bonus of the mission. Where he had to listen to the minotaur's conversation, he attacked them. It didn't work at first, so he ran away at low health and charged them again. I didn't heal him, so he misserably died. Nobody else of our party went aggro, so he died miserably and the minotaurs continued the conversation. The whole party had a big laugh at his expence and we did got the seed for the bonus. This game is great

I do agree that the cutscenes could use a lil tweaking but most of them are, what looks, like gameplay but in a different camera angle. I really like it like it is because you dont cut away to something that is cartoon-ie and if you are watching it for your first time, it actually feels like you are still a part in what is going on. not just adding to the storyline to fill the gap kinda stuff like in (your example) Diablo

I like the mental challenge. Understanding skills and piecing them together to make builds is a whole lotta fun imo.

It's got no monthly subscription, so I can be as casual or hardcore as I like depending on how busy I am.

By the way this thread is long overdue. Down with all the negative threads!

I'd have to agree that whoever designed the character models...well, let's just say that person Truely Appreciates the female form.

Wow.

I so AGREE with you! lol, Holy cow the people in Lineage 2 are soooo cold. Every town you visit, is like a ghost town, even if they're people in it, they dont talk.... EVER.

The cooperative aspect of GW is the best part to me - it's more fun to work with people than against constantly. But it's also fun to be able to run missions solo if there is no one around to game with.

And of course there are the talking Centaurs!
